Mission Statement
Mount Carmel Christian School exists to provide a
quality curriculum, founded on academic excellence in a
Christ-centered learning environment. Our educational
program, based on Jesus' model in Luke 2:52, seeks to
develop the child's growth in wisdom and stature, and in
favor with God and man. The application of this program
lays a foundation for Biblically-based living in today's
society.
History
Mount Carmel Christian School was founded in 1972
in Decatur, Georgia. The school relocated with the
church in 1989 to its present location. MCCS is
presently housed in an $11 million complex on 44 acres
off of Highway 78 near Stone Mountain Park. The
facilities include spacious classrooms, a
state-of-the-art computer lab, a performing arts
amphitheater, a science lab, a fully equipped gym,
age-appropriate playgrounds, a baseball/softball complex
and nature trails.
Governance
Mount Carmel Christian School has been in
existence since 1972 as a mission of
Mount Carmel
Christian Church. The school is governed by a School
Board appointed by the Board of Elders of Mount Carmel
Christian Church. The School Board consists of parents,
Christian businessmen and women, and Christian educators
who are responsible for seeing that the mission of the
school is fulfilled. This board sets policies for the
school that are carried out by a qualified
administration, faculty and staff.
Accreditation
MCCS is Accredited with
Quality by the
Georgia Accrediting Commission. The
school is led by a qualified administration, and
classes are taught by qualified teachers who hold a
bachelors degree or higher.
Our Strategy
Our educational program nurtures the whole child
by facilitating mental, physical, spiritual, and
intellectual growth. A faculty and staff who are
Christian role models, as well as qualified
professionals in their fields of teaching, guide this
growth. Christian values are taught and modeled in
our classrooms, and Christian behavior is expected from
each student in the classroom. Harmony between the
school and the home is encouraged through small
student-teacher ratios that enable communication and
cooperation between teachers and families.
